Just wanted to let all of you know that the winter market at 41st and Peoria is winding down. We will have 2 more winter markets on March 23rd and March 30th. The big kickoff of Cherry St SUMMER market will start April 6th, the first Saturday of April at 15th and Peoria. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you, former customers and we all hope new people who will discover the great fruits and vegetables etc available at the market.
The winter market at 41st and Peoria at the Food Pyramid parking lot is from 8:30-11:00. On Cherry St the market time is from 7:00-11:00. I would also like to add that my son will be premiering his fruit pastries. They are in the traditional half-moon shape dough encased pie. They are easy to eat and homemade fresh and delicious.
Also, I need to stress that the closed community of local production interrelationships is very well represented at Cherry St Farmers Market with my honey and my son’s pies. How? Why? I have bees at Cabin Creek Berries, owned by Milton and Judy Jantz.
My bees of course pollinate the berries as the season progresses. They in turn sell their blueberries, raspberries and blackberries to my son to make pies. In addition, I also have bees on Rick Koehn, who sells grass fed beef, lamb, and chicken eggs at Cherry St Farmers Market. My bees help pollinate his various clovers and Vetch, which benefits the cattle and sheep, which are in turn are sold to you at the farmers market.
I want my reading audience to know that Rick rotates his pasture in what are known as paddocks, so his land can recover with new growth. You must see it, and if things work out like I want, I am going to start a facebook page where I will document, videograhiclly the progression of what a beekeeper does during the course of a “season”.
So, if you are curious but don’t relish being stung, stop by by Goldstandard Honey facebook to satisfy the curiosity that many have expressed to me at Cherry St Farmers Market. The facebook page is not set-up yet, but is in the pipeline.
I also need to end with some good news for folks down south. I am now in Jenks Reasor’s. I have the same hex shaped display that is at Bixby. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then look at the rotating pictures above and you will eventually see it. It is a great design a good friend of mine created. Look for it coming to Siegi’s Sausage Factory and Green Acres in Jenks.
I want you all to do good work, stay in touch and come by and see me Cherry St Farmer’s Market April 6th.
